Letter to the Editor: Skaff helps constituents
A letter to the editor posted in the Charleston Gazette.
Editor:
Recently I e-mailed the office of 30th District Legislator Doug Skaff to assist in an environmental disaster in the Cabin Creek area of Decota. The asphalt on CR 76 had dissolved under the weight of constant coal haulage from two nearby mountaintop removal complexes, rendering the road almost impassable for school buses, emergency, and residential vehicles.
Before the rush hour traffic ended that day I received a call from Delegate Skaff, whose soft-spoken voice seemed very enthusiastic to help the residents of Decota.
He patiently investigated the request, made all the necessary arrangements with the Department of Highways and informed me that CR 76 needed repair as soon as possible and the people of Decota’s request for road repair would be granted.
This was dedicated representation and willingness by Delegate Skaff to roll up his sleeves and tend to the needs of a community. He made it clear that his office and phone lines were always open to the hard-working and retired constituents of eastern Kanawha County and he would do everything within his official duty to help assist their personal and community concerns.
The residents of Decota appreciate the time, effort and resolve that Delegate Skaff gave to them, especially while the Legislature was in special session and his schedule was full. I am convinced that the residents of eastern Kanawha County have found a friend and voice to address their concerns.
